Hard chrome is used in the aerospace industry to extend the longevity of mission-critical, high-stress parts on an aircraft such as landing gear, fuse pins, bushings and fasteners. Parts subject to friction, corrosion, galling, seizing, or high temperature will benefit most from hard chrome plating.
Hard chrome provides significant savings in replacement costs, time and labor.
The coating process is superior to cadmium, zinc, nickel and copper on the Mohs hardness scale, and its properties include abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance, thermal conductivity, thermal expansion and increased wearability.
